Theme Tumblr

I think first off the bat, I notice your music player. While I’m ok with the song, I know having autoplay music can be a huge turn off for a lot of tumblrites. I would suggest not having it on autoplay just to not deter more people from your blog. I think where autoplay songs are alright are the live previews. So I think if you want to display songs there it would be less uninviting there. 

That aside I think you have a very unique style. I love the style of your theme blog and I think the color choice is great. The organization is pretty much perfect. You have all the links that people would be interested to getting to and it’s accessible. It’s lovely and unique and shows your own personal style. It’s so hard because the critique for your theme isn’t really critique so much as personal preference/nitpickyness…

Instead of having your page navigation all the way at the bottom I would maybe put it under where you have your theme links on the left? Just that way people don’t have to keep scrolling all the way to the bottom to navigate through your pages. The other thing is just a nitpicky thing. Since I  feel like all your links are concentrated towards the left, it took me a while to realize that your index/ask/etc. links were over on the right. So, to sort of balance it out I think maybe just make your title banner at the top longer to stretch to where your sidebar is or just switch where your main links and other links are.

You can basically ignore those things though because it’s more personal preference than anything. Your theme is pretty flawless side from the auto playing music and there’s not much I think needs to be changed about it. You have a lot of themes and again it’s just a testament that you know what you’re doing so I’m not sure this review provides much help.

Manatopia Review

Since you’re using someone else’s theme for your theme’s tumblr I won’t review that. You also have a lot of themes and so as much as I would like to review them all and oogle over them I’ve just reviewed your latest five. I’ll be honest though it was really hard to find anything really to critique about your themes. You have many themes and it shows how long you’ve been doing this and how experienced you are. So I’m not sure how much this will help lol.

Aesthetics
First of the bat, for me, the sidebar is a bit busy. You have gifs in your sidebar as well as the shapes. I get distracted easily so it could just be my problem. For the most part however I do like the set up. If you maybe changed the lower right shape to have the pointy corners on the opposite sides I think it would add a little more balance. Or even if you made the two circles still photos instead of the top left gif.

I would also maybe try and make it so that when you hover over the bottom left shape that the flat side is on the left. But again, only for more balance sake. 

The color scheme is good. It’s not too light so that people can’t read text and it’s not too obnoxious. I like that you have made your gifs and images to match your theme. Sometimes it’s really hard to do that and I think you did that well.

Functionality
I think overall the theme is pretty balanced with the circles on the left. However, your eye does get drawn more to the sidebar side than the actual content only because of the thick red bar as well the sidebar. If you want to maybe try and focus more on the content, lighten the bar on the right to another shade of red.

Having the post info only show when you hover over the post is a great way to save space and further un-busy your theme, which is always good and I always like.

While I like the bottom right circle of your sidebar because it really does do a CRAZY NEAT effect, it really has no purpose other than that.

For me having the navigation at the bottom can also be sort of problematic because viewers will have to scroll all the way down just to go back a page. I would suggest to combine functionality and aesthetic by moving the navigation to that bottom right circle when you hover (or just show always) that way it serves a purpose and makes it easier to navigate.

You also possibly could make it one of the circles on the left, even though you do use it for tags.

You do have a lot of transition effects going on with the circles and the sidebar and the post info. For me I would have possibly had all the circles doing the same transition, only because it seems like you’re just displaying the array that transitions can do like a showcase instead of a theme. But maybe I like conformity too much lol.

Overall
In it’s entirety I think it’s a good theme. There are some kinks to work out but that’s more on what you prefer than anything else. I would definitely say that it is not like the original theme at all and you did a good job of not using it as a base so much as your own. Just keep in mind maybe when you make another theme that sometimes less is more.

(Hope this is ok this is my first theme review, maybe I should stick to just movie reviews XD)

Theme Reviews!

Now that LMTHEMES is a newly minted resource blog as well, I will be available to do theme reviews! This is not only just for theme makers but theme users as well!

Both can either be done publicly, I’ll post it - or privately, it’ll be a private post so then I can just give you the link to it.

For theme makers -

Reviews will cover both you’re themes blog (if you have one), a few of your themes (you can specify or I’ll just do the latest 3-5), and pages

• Aesthetics: what makes the theme eye catching, what’s clashing
  - colors/images
  - layout 
• Functionality: what might not all theme users get 
  - organization
  - accessibility
• Personal comments - personal likes and dislikes

I don’t always think that themes have to appeal to everyone and sacrifice aesthetically for that. But the functionality part is more if you wanted to appeal to more people - cause if I as a theme maker don’t understand it’s probably problematic for non-theme makers. 

For theme users -

This is mostly if you’ve changed the colors or added a background and just want to get a second opinion.

I’ll just give you comments about aesthetics and my personal opinions. This definitely means however you need to have your credits in tact so I can find the original and see how you’ve made it your own!

Reviews -

I will try to have them in a weeks time but I do have a personal life and use some of my free time to make themes.

I don’t expect a lot of people to take me up on this lol but if you do just know that these are personal opinions and I don’t want anyone to get butthurt over it. I will make an effort to say strong points and weaknesses - I aim at giving you constructive criticism instead of being nitpicky.
