PSA: Image links vs. Links

I have gotten “My image doesn’t work.” an alarmingly handful of times only to see in the code that people have copied just the link to the page instead of the actual image link.

Image links will end in: .png, .gif, .jpeg, .jpg, and rarely .bmp

So if you’re link for the image you need to put in somewhere like a film table or manually for a background image and it doesn’t end in those that is the main reason why your image isn’t showing up.

I guess as a coder it’s concerning that the general public doesn’t seem to know the difference between a direct image URL and a link. This is why I’m posting this because it’s kind of alarming to me, especially with things like photobucket, tinypic, imgur, and instagram.

Any time a site has a couple links and you have to use one for a layout you should always just copy the direct link. Tinypic even says direct link for layouts.

Yes, I am aware. Two reasons: laziness and because I’m in the process of making a new theme for LMThemes so I don’t see much point in updating when I have to reformat the gallery anyways.

You can find all themes including the ones I’ve posted but aren’t in the gallery in my themes tag.

New theme will be posted tomorrow!

You can preview the theme that will be posted after that… next week here.

Tumblr have announced new reblog and like buttons using the variables {LikeButton} and {ReblogButton}. Sample code can be viewed from the updated theme documentation.

“Now Tumblr users can interact with a post right from your theme,” said Tumblr staff in an email to theme developers. “All you have to do is embed our new Like and Reblog buttons into your design — we’ll take care of the rest!”

Tumblr’s new reblog and like buttons make use of Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), meaning they don’t lose resolution when they are enlarged, perfect for high pixel density displays. The buttons are available in three colors: grey, white, or black.

If your themes already use other code for Tumblr like and reblog buttons, staff have advised that developers “need to update to the latest code”.

OLD BLOG NAME: means the old blog NAME you were before. So if you were http://notfabulous.tumblr.com it would just be notfabulous.
NEW BLOG NAME: means the new URL name you are at, JUST the title so if your new url is http://fabulous.tumblr.com you would just put fabulous.

Because this is used in the redirect URL as well you MUST include dashes! ie. new blog name is very-fabulous, put very-fabulous or the link to your new blog will not work.

INSTALLING: you would install this just as you would a theme - not a page, as it is just a place holder blog. Doing so allows you to edit the colors, font, upload image, etc. as you would a custom theme. Enjoy!

I will be posting 5 new themes soon. One is the theme on my personal blog (hopefully will be posted over the weekend). The other four will be in a theme pack. However, I’m not going to post them in a pack lol so IDK if it counts…? It’s more the naming them is the thing - the theme pack is named Exit Through the Gift Shop which are supposed to actually be like “Look you can make these themes with my theme tutorial series…” (though again for those there are no base codes) which I will be trying to finish while posting these themes. So, no I haven’t forgotten about the tutorial series, it’s just life and I haven’t had a good sit down period. As I’d rather write the next few volumes in a day’s sitting instead of spread over a week etc. Blah blah blah, no one actually cares XD

The theme pack is why if suddenly themes are misnumbered, I can count, I have a system lol. Ok smarty pants?

It’s only a semi-hiatus because I’m going to finish the theme pack, tutorials, (new LMThemes layout,) and then once that happens just make pages for a bit. Again not like anyone will notice but just in case people are like, “Where are actual themes?” It’s because a. after I post these, I will have run out of ideas I have stored in my head b. I have been busy with work, real life, etc. etc.

You get called out by three different people, three times on different URLs - thewalkingdixon (which you were asked to take themes down before) then you switched to bitchmagnets (where you had your second strike) - and is now thedirtythree or maybe stokedforthislasagna. We are keeping you on the list because you only take down your stolen themes for a brief moment - and then make themes again who happen to involve stolen code. We don’t like to name and shame, but people DO need to keep an eye out for you, especially when you threaten and attack people if they confront you.

We also are 80% sure you are also the anon who harassed us because we wouldn’t put ninpen on the list on YOUR terms because suddenly you then went and did this.

So when we refuse to take your name down from the list of thieves (which I think is warranted because THREE times you’ve been caught) you turn to harassing us on anon and starting a blog to focus your antics on attacking those who called you out.

You make/participate in a blog to call out thieves but there’s only one post - it’s obvious from the sidebar description it’s set out to attack one specific person. The first person who called you out.

And then you say you are getting rape/death/anon hate from ninpen/manatopia? You and your alter-ego “friends” iamtheongreyjoy and minimalismistic are the ones sending in rape and death threats to the theme makers. And there are screencaps sent in as proof: [x] [x] [x] [x]. I have also visited your blog and in one of your latest posts you’ve started to bring in her family members. That’s disrespectful and a new low - not to mention schizophrenia is not a disease, it’s a mental disorder so stop being so ignorant.

We believe the fact that you keep trying to change your URL to run away from these accusations and then when confronted by people you post things and then delete them could be used as evidence towards the fact you can’t prove yourself to be the innocent party.

The admins of theme-hunter ARE theme makers and the funny thing is it’s actually a smaller community than you think and we DO talk to one another. It is one thing to steal code and then it is another to threaten people and then use the internet to warp the story. Currently we are more concerned at future possible harassment.

Before you say we’re advocating hate PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN ANY ANON HATE to her. This is merely an FYI post, mainly to make aware of not only a code stealer but cyber bully. Had bitchmagnets (now waltahwhite) taken down her themes, not verbally abused people with rape and death threats, not pretend SHE was the victim, not attacking US because she couldn’t have her way, and just move on - we wouldn’t be posting this. Or addressing this.

We have been informed by the attacked theme makers since the beginning of this year. Again it was a three strikes rule that we are now bringing this up today.

I am just going to direct people here because this is disturbing if it’s true.

Made rebloggable because people should be aware of cyber bullies especially if they have been getting away with it for 12 years.

Okay, it's actually pretty simple so here we go..
In order to make a gif as your tumblr icon you’ll need to download this add on (if you’re on chrome user) in order to see it. That being said, firefox, internet explorer, and opera users don’t need any add ons to see it. They have it easy.

After you’ve done that, you’re going to need a .gif to .apng converter. I recommend using this one (for windows) or this one (for macs). Just click the green button to download it, and i promise you it’s safe ‘cause i use it. Alright, now that you’ve downloaded the converter, it’s time to make the gif you want to use as your icon.

Remember, you have to make sure the size is 64x64 or it won’t work. This is important! After you’ve made your gif or picked up to use, just open up your converter, pick the input file and then hit convert! Super easy, right?

I know, I just blew your mind. It happens.

Please do not use themes from bitchmagnets. She is a code stealer.

I honestly do not tend to call people out on stealing because 80% of the time it’s just theme users. But however, when it is a “theme maker” who decides to straight up copy and paste code. That is always a red flag to me. Especially when they have been warned by other theme makers before (if you look you can notice whom she’s stolen from). For someone to say they will stop stealing (formerly thewalkingdixon) and then recreate to pull ideas from other theme makers…. The first rule of theme making club: just don’t steal. Just don’t.

Some anon had brought to my attention that her code looked familiar. While she has not stolen for one of her themes she has stolen for her theme gallery. And while I have seen my LMThemes copied a few times since I have put it up at the beginning of Feb. It is unforgivable to me as a theme maker for another theme maker to call themselves that and then copy someone else’s code. I name my classes in such a way that I can recognize them because most people won’t name them the way I do. And maybe to some it is a small deal because it’s not that much code… the issue shouldn’t be that amount of code. The issue should be that any was stolen at all.
